Saba Yousefi
Saba Yousefi is an Iranian-Canadian violinist, educator, administrator, and co-founder of LyreIran. This collaborative organization promotes free and accessible educational content for music students worldwide, focusing on the Middle East. Saba holds a Master of Violin Performance and a Bachelor of Violin Performance with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Toronto. She is a former member of the University of Toronto Pedagogy School. She has dedicated her research to exploring new methods for professional musicians to overcome physical injuries and develop innovative mental health techniques.
Saba co-founded and was a member of the Chaam Trio, a Toronto-based ensemble renowned for blending Traditional Persian music with contemporary Western techniques. Her dedication to excellence has been recognized through her receipt of the University of Toronto Graduate Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Her recent collaborations include conducting workshops for composers, hosting webinars for music students, and delivering various performances for social and cultural causes. Saba has a diverse musical background, having served as a former member of the Ontario Philharmonic and has performed as both a soloist and chamber musician across Canada, the Middle East, and China.
With a deep commitment to contemporary music, Saba actively engages with new music written by contemporary composers from around the world. Her passion for modern repertoire is reflected in her upcoming performance at Salle Bourgie Hall in Montreal, where she will be spotlighting contemporary pieces by Iranian women composers. This concert is a testament to her dedication to bringing fresh, innovative sounds to the stage and showcasing the richness of contemporary music.
Looking ahead, Saba is currently developing her concert schedule for 2024, where she will showcase her talents as both a chamber musician and a solo performer. Moreover, she has recently completed a successful training course in fundraising within the art industry, further expanding her skill set.
