Negin Zomorodi
Negin Zomorodi, born in 1973 in Tehran, showed an early passion for music, beginning her piano studies in childhood under the tutelage of esteemed masters like Voski Ohanessian and Farimah Qavam-Sadri. After earning a degree in textile engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) in 1996, her love for music drew her deeper into the world of composition. This led her to pursue a Master’s degree in music composition at Tehran University of Art, which she completed in 2009. Zomorodi further enriched her knowledge by undertaking specialized courses in music theory and harmony at The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Toronto, Canada.
Since then, her compositions have been featured in various festivals and concert halls, including Roudaki Hall. Notable works include “Shadow” for flute and piano, performed at the Contemporary Composers Festival in Tehran; “Suddenly,” a string quartet performed by the Iranian ensemble “Chahargan”; “Migration,” another string quartet performed by the group “Respina Quartet”; and “Butterfly’s Dance,” showcased at the Contemporary Composers’ Piano Night.
Apart from her composition endeavors, Zomorodi is also skilled in improvisation, having showcased her talents at the Fereshteh Music Nights Festival.
Recognizing the importance of fostering connections within the music community, Zomorodi initiated the “Specialized Meetings at Gozar Music Academy” in September 2010. These gatherings aimed to unite players, composers, masters, and researchers while enhancing the skills of Iranian art students. Zomorodi has been a staunch supporter of these meetings, both financially and spiritually. She has also shared her expertise by teaching music subjects to graduate and postgraduate students at Tehran University of Art and Islamic Azad University. In 2015, when Gozar Music Academy was established, she assumed the role of its manager.
