Farid Omran
Born in Abadan in 1945, Farid Omran showed an early aptitude for music, beginning piano lessons and composing small pieces during his childhood. He continued his music education at the Tehran Conservatory, studying under notable mentors such as Morteza Hannaneh and Yousef Yousefzadeh. Simultaneously, Omran initiated his journey into composition under the guidance of the renowned Russian pianist and composer, Leonid Samus. His quest for musical excellence led him to pursue further studies in composition at the London Conservatory, culminating in the attainment of a master’s degree. There, he had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed professors and musicians, including Norman Demuth, John McCabe, and Professor Lawrence Leonard.
In recognition of his contributions to the world of music, Farid Omran was honored at the 21st International Fajr Music Festival in 2005.
