Biography
Bert Helsen was born in Antwerp, Belgium. In 2004, he obtained his Master’s degree for bassoon at the Lemmens institute in Leuven, under guidance of his teacher Dirk Noyen. He then started further specialization at the IMEP in Namen under guidance of Grazziano Moretto. He For five years he was appointed in the Symphony Orchestra of Flanders.
Since 2010 Bert Helsen was appointed as bassoon soloist in the National Orchestra of Belgium under the musical direction of Andrey Boreyko. With this National Orchestra, he performed the bassoon concerto of Mozart several times, including once with the famous maestro conductor Walter Weller.
