Arshia Cont
Arshia Cont has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. In 2003, they worked as a Research Engineer at La Kitchen. From 2004 to 2004, they worked as a Researcher at CIRM. In 2008, they joined IRCAM as the Head of Musical Research and later became the Director of the Research/Creativity Interfaces Department. During their time at IRCAM, they were responsible for the creation and supervision of collaborative research projects between R&D departments and composers in residence. In 2010, they became an Instructor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse, where they guided students in research methodology and participated in the program’s entrance exam and exit defense as a jury member. In 2012, they joined Inria as the Head of Research for the MuTant Team-Project, where they conducted research in real-time audio processing algorithms and synchronous real-time programming for computer and interactive arts. In 2016, they co-founded Antescofo, a company specializing in the Metronaut App, where they served as the CEO. Lastly, in 2018, they took on the role of President at L’Itinéraire, one of the leading European ensembles dedicated to contemporary music performance.
Arshia Cont’s education history began in 1998 at Sharif University of Technology, where they studied without completing a specific degree or field of study. In 2001, they enrolled at Virginia Tech and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Math, which they completed in 2003. The following year, from 2003 to 2004, Arshia attended Pierre and Marie Curie University where they pursued a Master of Science degree in Acoustics, Signal Proc. and Computer Science Applied to Music. Finally, from 2004 to 2008, Arshia Cont attended UC San Diego, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Music.
