Ali Gorji
Ali Gorji was born in Tehran in 1978. His increasing interest in classical music through the teaching and support of his piano teacher Farimah Ghawamsadri led him to theory and then harmony and counterpoint lessons with Alireza Mashayeki, with whom he received composition lessons since 1996. During this time he took part as an interpreter and composer in the activities of the “Tehran Music Group” founded by both teachers, whose activity is mainly in the field of contemporary music. He has lived in Germany since 2001, where he studied composition at the Bremen University of the Arts with Prof. Younghi Pagh-Paan until 2008. He received lessons in electronic composition from Prof. Kilian Schwoon and analysis from Andreas Dohmen. From 2008 to 2011 he completed postgraduate studies in music theory at the Bremen University of the Arts. In 2012 he was a scholarship holder of the Berlin Academy of the Arts.
He currently lives as a freelance composer in Berlin and teaches composition and music theory at the Institute for Music at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.
